To spur economic development in two of south Serbia’s most under-developed municipalities, the United Nations PBILD programme, in co-operation with the municipalities of Crna Trava and Vlasotince and a generous USD 50,000 from Norway and USD 3,500 municipalities cost sharing, launched a project to strengthen women’s entrepreneurship some four months ago.

After six months of training, 39 state auditors received the certificates and got the right to become certified state auditors. The certificates were presented at the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, by the Assembly Speaker, Ms. Slavica Djukic Dejanovic.

The Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia has published the third publication "Women and Men in the Republic of Serbia" (2011) with the support of UN Women (UN Entity for Gender Equality and Empowerment of Women). Public promotion of the publication took place on December 12 at the Danas Conference Center in New Belgrade. The speakers were Mr. Nils Ragnar Kamsvåg, Ambassador of Norway, Ms. Asya Varbanova, Head of the UN Women office in Serbia and Mr. Dragan Vukmirovic, Director of the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia.

The trend of corruption among doctors is declining; among the police remains mostly unchanged, while an increase is recorded among public administration officials. Approximately 39% of citizens of the Republic of Serbia has had indirect experience with corruption, 11% of citizens reported their personal involvement in corruption, while 37% of respondents say that the bribe was requested, are just some of the results of the 4th round of the research Serbia Corruption Benchmarking Survey conducted by TNS Medium Gallup within the UNDP project Enhancing Anti-Corruption Efforts in Serbia.
