Visit of the UN Under-Secretary-General and UNOPS Director Grete Faremo to Serbia
Belgrade, 18 June 2018 – Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Executive Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS), Grete Faremo visited Belgrade on 18 July 2018 and had meetings with the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, the First Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dačić, State Secretaries of the Ministry of Construction, Transport and Infrastructure and the Head of the Delegation of European Union (EU) in Serbia, Ambassador Sem Fabrizi.
President Vučić noted that UNOPS’ expert support in the realisation of these projects is important for overall reforms in Serbia , as well as the process of European integrations. He expressed his gratitude for the assistance provided thus far, especially in mitigating the damage caused by the 2014 floods, noting that the projects that were implemented back then, helped a great deal in floods protection in the past couple of days.

We are committed to help Serbia build a sustainable future for all”, stated the Executive Director of UNOPS, Grete Faremo.
UN Under-Secretary-General stated that UNOPS is the key resource in the United Nations in the fields of infrastructure, procurement and project management and that UNOPS and Serbia have worked in partnership on projects worth more than 130 million euros. Faremo also undelined that UNOPS actively participates in the implementation of the Development Partnership Framework for the period 2016-2020, which the UN team signed with the Government of Serbia.
